2021_10_24 Easington Colliery Circular

Leader : Chris          Distance : 12.5 miles

10 of us led by Chris set off and headed for the coast. we crossed over the railway and picked up the coastal path north towards Seaham with some spectacular views out to sea and the sun came out. We climbed down and had a little stroll along the beach then back up again and a coffee stop.

We then left the coast and headed inland through Hazel Dene and along Stony Cut Bank a former colliery line and made our way to the village of Hawthorne where we had lunch in the churchyard. Sandwiches eaten and it was out with cake and bubbly to celebrate a certain persons special birthday. ‘Happy 60th Nigel’ Thanks Kate and Elaine

Celebrations over we set off again passing the Pit Cage Monument and headed back towards the coast along Fox Holes Denes and back to the cars
