2021_06_06 Seaham, Hawthorne Dene and Dalton-le-Dale

Leader  :  Marg          Distance 10 miles

12 of us set off along the coast path into the town where we met up with ‘Tommy’ a statue of a First World War soldier by artist Ray Lonsdale

We continued on the coast path stopping for coffee at Nose’s Point. We left the coast path and headed through the wooded Hawthorne Dene and into the village of Hawthorne where some of us stopped off at Palominos a lovely converted horsebox for cakes and ice creams. We had our lunch stop at St Michael & All Angels Church in the village

We then took the path to the small village Dalton-le-Dale passing through Dawdon Dene Park with Dawdon Burn running through it and some lovely old bridges

Once out of the park we took the road back into Seaham and found a lovely pub for our after walk drink in the sunshine
