2019_08_10 Beggar’s Bridge

Leader : Richard Harris.          Distance : 9 miles.

Richard reports :-

Seven souls brave enough to take up the challenge arrived at Beggars Bridge in Glaisdale for the walk,

we started the walk with a few exercises to warm up for the 1 1/2miles uphill stretch,  the views are spectacular and the heather really was quite beautiful on the moors.

After taking a break we set off through the short stretch of wood and then down to the valley below reaching a farm and walking the valley floor

before once again climbing up to reach our lunch time stop and more breathtaking views.

The rain finally showed up but to our surprise went past and straight through the valley but then gave us a reminder that we were on borrowed time, because as soon as we made our way back down we were treated to a good old fashioned drenching so we found shelter under a tree.

The last mile was still very much in line with the rest of the walk, with lovely views and great company and we could see our final destination,  the pub where a well earned drink was obtained, and with the local women’s hockey team enjoying a drink and challenging each other to blow a Bugle made it all worthwhile.
