Chairs blog and walks update

April 19th 2021

Good morning walkers, I hope my April blog finds you all well.

Your committee held an additional meeting last week to discuss the possibility of providing club walks in the near future. We have been following the progress and taking our lead from the Ramblers association who, as many of you know, have been providing a programme of walks since the lifting of some Covid restrictions this week.

We are very aware of how the enthusiasm for group walking is moderated by a natural reticence to continue to keep ourselves safe and to follow the official guidelines. We have therefore decided to offer a selection of ‘welcome back’ walks commencing the 1st May, the details of which will be posted shortly on the website and are attached to this email.

The walks will be led by committee members only and there will be a limit of 12 persons able to attend. Car sharing, as yet, is not allowed and so the meeting place will be at the start of the walk, not at our usual venues.

Anyone wishing to attend a walk will need to personally contact the leader to provide a phone number and to book a place.

This is very important as the leader will be required to risk assess the walk, know who is attending and when the places have been allocated. We will reassess the situation at our next meeting on May 12th.
