Jan reports :-
Well the contrast in the weather couldn’t have been greater between the recce of my walk on Thursday and the actual walk on Sunday.
There wasn’t a cloud in the sky and our greatest hazard was the possibility of sunstroke. It was still a challenging walk taking a good six hours to complete but a fantastic one nevertheless.
Seven of us left Hanging Shaw car park and followed for the most part the Pennine Way, along the river Tees to Cauldron Snout waterfall, with its scramble up to the nature trail on the side of Cow Green reservoir. A climb onto the moor then down to Lowend bridge over Harwood Beck which set us on the return journey which also wasn’t without challenges; in fact, we almost lost John in a ditch of slurry. Good job he was travelling in Nigel’s car!
