Leader: Richard Harris. Distance : 10 miles.
Richard reports :-
We all set off for High Cup Nick in great spirits and having walked out of Dufton, Sylvia remembered she’d left her walking pole at the car. Peter ran back to get it and we all set off again.
We reached the old smelting furness and had our first spot of refreshments.
We stopped again at the shooting lodge which has had a make over and had lunch, it started to drizzle and a few donned waterproof jackets.
The going was easy and not too boggy on the walk to the bridge where the river meets the Pennine way.
We took time looking at the wild flowers on the way which included beautiful violets across to High CuNick which came into view spectaculary as usual.
We stopped for about 5 minutes and sweets were shared out.
We made it down in good time and passed a large group of walkers from Carlisle. We all had a nice refreshing drink in the Stag Inn.
