Michael reports :-
On Sunday an enthusiastic group of 7 walkers set off from Reeth. The tops of the hills all around were shrouded in mist and cloud and there was a very fine drizzle. We followed The Arkle Back from Reeth Bridge and after about 50 minutes the drizzle stopped and we found a pleasant spot in the woods overlooking the beck for morning coffee. From Castle Farm we took a very steep path up to the top of Fremington Edge. We headed along the top path to the large cairn to admire the views and as we descended we found a pleasant grassy bank overlooking Slei Gill where we stopped for lunch. After passing Storthwaite Hall we climbed the hill to Booze and up onto the moor before descending past Scar House to Langthwaite. We then followed The Arkle Beck to West Raw Croft Farm. From here we made our last ascent of the day along the side of Carver Hill and returned to Reeth via Skelgate Lane. Whilst walking in the sunshine through Arkengarthdale a unanimous decision was made to go for an ice cream in Reeth and even though we walked the last mile in the rain we still enjoyed a Brymor ice cream at the ice parlour.
