Elaine reports : –
Michael led 8 walkers from the locally known “The Rocks” towards Castle Eden Dene.
Majority of walkers today were new to the delights of the Dene area though for one, it was trip down memory lane which brought back many childhood memories and adventures.
The Dene is the largest and biologically richest around the Durham coastline with deep ravines incised through magnesian, limestone and overlaying clay.
With over 450 species of plant and trees of Elm, Sycamore and Yew it is a wonderful area to walk in.
Waterproofs were discarded after a few hours of light rain and soon dried out in the warm haze of the day.
A lovely walk…….
